Installing a Tarball

#Unpack it 

tar -xzf archive-name.tar.gz 

#CD to the uncompressed directory, there will be serveral files. View readme or install notes 

cd archive-name 

#configure the archive 

./configure 

#make the archive 

make

#install the program 

sudo make install
