Windows 8 Crashes again

So Windows 8 crashed again overnight and I am in the process of rebuilding it. I decided to install it on a new hard drive to eliminate the repeated crashes (time will tell). On reinstall I did a clean install over Win 8 off of a DVD. Right after a fresh install Windows STILL CANNOT UPDATE! So did some research and found its own Windows firewall is stopping the updates. Really, come on Microsoft I've got better software on my phone! Anyway disabled the Windows firewall (never to be enabled again, because hardware firewall) and now here come the updates.
